No new medication for Alzheimer Disease and dementia  (other than treatments for the behavioural problems) has been approved in Canada in twenty years. We review where we are now – medications with modest effects for cognitive symptoms and behavioural and psychological problems. We look at where we want to be with curative and preventative treatments, and examine how we may get to those goals in the next decade.
