AAG needs your help to create a new culture of healthy aging and quality of life in Alberta. Seniors, caregivers, researchers, and health care providers have persevered and survived a very challenging two years. Even now, our MOH, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, tells us we must embrace “two realities at once” – the ongoing serious threat of COVID to older and immunocompromised people and the declining risk to the population as a whole. Without much time to take a breath, I am also asking AAG members and supporters to embrace two realities – re-charging with our loved ones and moving forward to make life better for older Albertans through the Futures Policy Forum 2022.

In this AAGmag, you will learn about how we are gearing up to launch our two year Futures Policy Forum Initiative. I am grateful for the tremendous leadership provided by our Chair, Vivien Lai and Vice Chair, Marlene Raasok. A Stakeholder Collaborative Committee of over 40 members is providing inspiration and oversight. Many thanks to AAG members, especially our board members who are working extremely hard to plan and support the initiative: fund development, communication, technical support, and evaluation. Supporting this work, you will soon hear about our newly designed website with a launch expected in the coming weeks, thanks to our designer, Andrea Dunne. You can also expect to receive regular communications from our new Data Communications Assistant, Gail Kostiw (info@albertaaging.com). A series of free webinars are the first component of the Initiative which started April 6th, 2022. The second FREE webinar of the Futures Policy Forum takes place on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022. Find out more about this webinar: Transforming to Integrated Community-Based Services for Older Albertans. We hope you will join us. REGISTER TODAY!

You may have noticed a move to a new online format for AAGmag, the vision of our Editor Dr. Sandi Hirst and creatively supported by Andrea. We hope you enjoy our “new look” and find it useful.

Finally, please consider joining our wonderful AAG Board and be a part of our exciting work! We are recruiting three new members for appointment at the AGM on June 21st, 2022. Download the AAG Board Nomination Form 2022 today.
